Comprehensive, proactive anti-virus protection

The McAfee anti-virus scan engine stops every type of virus and malicious code threat, including macro viruses, Trojans, Internet worms, advanced 32-bit viruses, and even hostile ActiveX and Java objects. Using technology that drills down into compressed data, WebShield is also able to find hidden threats buried in .zip and other compressed file types.

Proactive protection is delivered through advanced heuristics and generic detection, which allow WebShield to protect-in advance-against new, unseen viruses and other threats.

Spam blocking and content filtering

Integrated content filtering features protect users from email containing offensive or defamatory words or phrases, while also guarding the organization from potential legal issues resulting from problematic outbound email. For further legal protection, WebShield allows the insertion of disclaimers to all incoming and outgoing email.

Comprehensive reporting and trend analysis

Integration with McAfee ePO® provides detailed, graphical reports showing virus activity, content filtering policy compliance, and trend analysis, allowing administrators to trace outbreaks to their source and manage ongoing security policies.

Outbreak management

Using rules defined by the administrator, Outbreak Manager searches for new attacks by looking for activities typical of virus outbreaks. When a virus outbreak is detected, Outbreak Manager can either email the administrator and wait for further instructions, or automatically execute pre-determined tasks to secure the email environment against possible infection, requiring no manual intervention.

Firewall-independent, WebShield SMTP easily plugs in behind the firewall of almost any network, allowing you to start scanning SMTP ports almost immediately. Plus, as a stand-alone system, it doesn't impact other critical systems such as firewalls or mail servers.
