Storage Control
Removable storage devices are an old risk to endpoint security , but with their huge capacities, they are a very real threat to corporate information security today. CDs, DVDs, flash drives, thumbdrives, zip drives, floppy drives, and tape drives all are cheap, convenient, and can store a vast amount of data.
Safend Protector has comprehensive controls to secure removable storage media.
Safend Protector includes redundant, multi-tiered anti-tampering features to guarantee permanent control over enterprise endpoints.
Anti-tampering features include:
Port Shutdown
For extreme cases when no access is the best policy, Protector can completely shut down any port.
Granular Device Permission
For any device attached via a USB, FireWire, or PCMCIA port, Safend Protector identifies the device by its device type, class, and unique serial number. Protector can develop restrictions based on any combination of these.
Organizations can procure and permit access to their own encrypted thumbdrives. With all other storage devices are blocked, Protector will create a shield that allows legitimate use, and blocks potential threats
With granular control, organizations can develop their own standards for acceptable storage devices.

Read-Only Mode
Safend Protector can set storage ports to Read-Only mode, where connected devices can be accessed, but data cannot be transferred to them
Limited Storage Devices
Protector can block all storage devices that are greater than a user-defined capacity. Small devices can be use for legitimate purposes, but huge devices can’t copy an entire endpoint hard drive.
