Large attachment handling
Large attachments can be a problem for most email administrators. Unfortunately attachments are only growing in size with email being the default method of sharing or moving files in and out of organisations. Receiving them can cause storage bloat in the mail stores by increasing the size of users' mailboxes, and delivering them can result in IT support being required for bounce-backs from accounts with lower attachment thresholds where users need to be supported using FTP or other tools.
Mimecast offers a simple but powerful solution for large attachments by removing them from emails prior to delivery and substituting the attachment with an encrypted hyperlink, enabling the recipient to download the attachment directly themselves. This is a straightforward and elegant process that automatically provides relief from storage bloat. It also encourages users to file attachments on the files system and not to leave them in the email system, promoting better email management.
It smartly reduces the cost of support and ownership of an email infrastructure.
